Last September Sony revealed the much anticipated The Last of Us: Part 2 during the PlayStation Experience, and the crowd went wild. Long rumored the PS exclusive is coming back. A return to the post post-apocalyptic world that at times is very beautiful, and fucking scary.
Under development by Naughty Dog (Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Launching August 22) the sequel takes place five years after the events of the original game. A dirty and blood covered Ellie and Joel will return along with at least one new character played by Shannon Woodward. You might know her from roles in Raising Hope and HBO’s Westworld. And possibly the very quirky TV show The Riches.
While we don’t know many details about the Last of Us 2 story, Neil Druckmann returns as the key author with help from Halley Gross (Westworld). Very good news for us fans, our much loved characters are in the same good hands. Woodward’s character is unknown for now but she is doing motion-capture work, so it will be more than just a voice acting role – awesome.
Ellie now 19 will be the star of the next installment, and as such gamers will only control her in the upcoming game. During the PSX event Druckmann said that while the original story was about “love” part 2 is more about “hate.” Ekk.
Rumors are putting the release date for The Last of Us 2 at some point in 2018, maybe as an awesome Christmas present.
