Activision and Infinity Ward just announced the details on how to get in on the upcoming Call of Duty Alpha. Clear your weekend schedule the Modern Warfare 2v2 Alpha Test is here. Featuring the all-new mode this Alpha does not require a pre-order. Yeah, that is a surprise isn’t it.
The COD early Alpha will be complete free, you won’t even need PlayStation Plus to join the bug-fest. Notice we haven’t mentioned Xbox so far. That is because this Alpha multiplayer fight is exclusive to PlayStation 4. Sorry no love this time, but check out the Beta roadmap below
Alpha Start: Friday, August 23, at 10 PDT, with preloading scheduled to be available in the hours prior to the official launch.
Alpha Length: This weekend only, from Friday, August 23 through Sunday, August 25.
Alpha Type: This is a Fully Open Alpha for the PS4 Only. There’s no game pre-order, and no PlayStation Plus required. Are there people who play COD that don’t have PS Plus? So if you’ve got a PlayStation 4 and an internet connection, you should be good to go.
Map & Modes: Five different maps are planned. These are King, Pine, and Stack (previously revealed), and Speedball and Docks (two new maps never publicly seen before!) Re Modes – Expect multiple Operators to be available, at least one game mode to play (with “Pickup” variant mode scheduled), and a number of other surprises as content is added throughout the weekend!
